How do I find my pelvic floor muscles?

Feel your pelvic floor muscles by inserting one finger approximately 1 inch inside your vagina. Rest your finger against the internal sidewalls as you squeeze and lift your anus, urethra, and vagina to feel your pelvic floor muscles contracting. A Kegel exercise should feel similar to the movements to start and stop urine flow. You can test this out next time you urinate by trying to stop mid-stream.

How will I know that I am exercising correctly?

There are two easy ways to check that you are contracting the right muscles: you can either use a lubricated finger to feel the lower edge of your KegelSmart™ moving upwards, or a mirror to see the retraction cord move upwards with each contraction. In the long term, if you progress up through the levels you will know that you are exercising correctly and building strength.

How often should I do the exercises?

For best results, complete a KegelSmart™ exercise routine daily. Once you have reached your goals, reduce to 3-5 times a week to maintain your tone. Pelvic floor muscles, just like other muscle groups, require regular exercise to stay in great shape so KegelSmart™ should become part of your ongoing exercise routine.

What are the advantages of using KegelSmart™ over unassisted training?

KegelSmart™ chooses an exercise level that is perfectly suited for your pelvic floor strength, which ensures that you are exercising at a level that will bring you the best results. KegelSmart™ also guides you through every contraction of the exercise routine, ensuring that you hold and rest for the right amount of time with no need for counting. The device itself provides an anatomically shaped object to contract around, offering resistance and helping you to exercise correctly. KegelSmart™ is your personal trainer for intimate fitness – it gives you personalized coaching and the motivation to achieve your goals.

What benefits will I get from using KegelSmart™?

Exercising your pelvic floor muscles with KegelSmart™ will help:
• Strengthen your pelvic floor
• Prepare for a healthy pregnancy
• Regain vaginal tightness after childbirth
• Enhance sensation during intimacy

Has KegelSmart™ been tested for safety?

KegelSmart™ has passed extensive safety testing for medical devices. It is cleared by the FDA in the US and CE marked for Europe.

What materials is KegelSmart™ made from? Are they safe to put inside my body?

KegelSmart™ is coated in medical grade silicone. This is an ultra-safe, inert material that is developed especially for medical proposes. It is hypoallergenic, latex-free, phthalate-free, and contains zero toxins. Silicone is non-porous and inhibits bacterial growth, making it extra hygienic.

Is there any risk of injury with KegelSmart™?

KegelSmart™ has been designed to be completely safe, if used as instructed. Pelvic floor exercisers should not be used during pregnancy or in the early stages of recovery from childbirth. Also, women who have had genitourinary or pelvic surgery should wait at least six weeks before use. If you experience any discomfort while using KegelSmart™ or for specific concerns regarding your health, always consult your medical practitioner.

How do I insert KegelSmart™?

For easier insertion, we recommend that you first lubricate the device, then turn it on by pressing the O button. Next, holding KegelSmart™ with the O button on the left, fully insert the device into your vagina, keeping the retraction cord outside the body. The routine will start in 30 seconds.

How do I remove KegelSmart™?

Relax your vaginal muscles, grip the retraction cord and slowly pull the device out.

Can I use KegelSmart™ while doing something else?

We recommend that you use your KegelSmart™ routine as an opportunity to take 5 minutes out of your day for quiet relaxation. That way you can focus on the routine and ensure that you use the correct Kegel technique for each contraction.

Can I use KegelSmart™ if I have an infection?

You should not use it if you have any inflammation or discomfort in the pelvic area or any other symptoms related to infection, a sexually transmitted disease, or surgery.

Can I use KegelSmart™ while pregnant?

No. It is advised that expectant mothers refrain from introducing foreign materials into their vaginas while carrying, as there is an increased risk for miscarriage and premature rupturing of the membranes. If you have any questions, please consult your physician.

Can I use KegelSmart™ just after childbirth?

New moms should wait until they are completely healed before starting to use KegelSmart, usually around 6 weeks. Be sure to speak to your doctor before starting any new exercise routine.

How does KegelSmart™ read my pelvic strength?

KegelSmart™ is equipped with touch sensor technology that allows the device to register the strength of your contractions throughout exercise. It will then collect and analyze the data to calculate your pelvic strength level and choose the exercise program that’s right for you.

How do I know which level I am on?

To check your level, turn on KegelSmart™ and count the times the LED light (above the O button) flashes. This number is the level you are on (1 flash for level 1, 5 flashes for level 5). To turn off, hold the O button until the LED light turns off.

How long will it take me to move up a level? Or feel results?

Every woman is different and will move up levels at a different rate. This can be dependent on your starting pelvic floor strength, your natural ability to build muscle and your diligence with the routines. Staying at the same level does not mean that you aren’t improving; it just means that you haven’t quite progressed enough for the next level. Like any exercise, consistency is important: if you are using the exerciser everyday you will start to feel results.

I have gone down a level – is this normal?

Yes, moving down a level can happen because KegelSmart™ chooses the level based on your contraction strength in the previous session. If you were distracted and didn’t give your best effort in your last session or maybe took a break from exercising then you might move down a level. Don’t worry, as soon as you get back into shape you will start moving up again.

I have been using KegelSmart™ regularly but I haven’t moved up a level. Why?

Staying at the same level does not mean that you aren’t improving; it just means that you haven’t quite progressed enough for the next level. Here are a couple of extra tips:

• Make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and using the right muscles
• Like in all exercise, consistency is key to improvement – we recommend you do the routine every day until you reach your goal
• Concentrate on your exercises, be sure you make every contraction count. Focus on following the vibrations as closely as you can.

Just remember, we are all different, some women will never reach the highest levels. The most important thing is that you feel an improvement in your pelvic health. So don’t be discouraged, you’re still gaining strength and endurance through exercising. Keep at it!

How do I clean my device?

Clean your exerciser before and after each use, either with anti-bacterial soap and water or with a purpose-made product such as our Intimate Accessory Cleaner. Wipe dry with a lint-free towel or cloth. Never use cleansers containing alcohol, petroleum, or acetone as these substances have the potential to disturb your natural balance and they may also damage the silicone on the outer shell of the exerciser.

Where should I keep my exerciser?

KegelSmart™ comes with its own antibacterial storage pouch, giving you the perfect place for storage between uses. Make sure you keep it in a cool, dry space away from dust or dirt when you’re not using it.

How often do I need to change the battery?

One AAA-battery should last 200 regular exercise routines. If the device fails to turn on, or there is a drop in vibration intensity, the battery should be changed.

Lily Cup™ and Lily Cup™ Compact
How do I choose between Lily Cup™ and Lily Cup™ Compact?

Lily Cup™ Compact is a collapsible menstrual cup. It folds flat so it’s easy to carry around in its cute little case. It offers up to 12 hours of protection and is perfect for women with a light to medium flow. If you have a heavier flow you can still use it, but it will just have to be emptied more frequently. It is a shorter cup so it’s great for women with a lower cervix (shorter vaginal canal).

Lily Cup™ is our higher capacity cup. It’s great for all levels of flow, from light to heavy. This cup is longer and is better for women with higher cervixes (longer vaginal canals), though the stem can also be trimmed to make it shorter. It offers up to 12 hours of protection. It features a unique non-spill rim.

How do I find my cervix?

The cervix can change position depending upon where you are in your menstrual cycle, so wait until your next period to check its position. The cervix is a tight ring of muscle where menstrual fluid flows from the uterus and feels a little like the tip of your nose. Wash your hands and insert one finger into your vagina. If you can easily reach your cervix with the tip of your finger then it is positioned quite low.

Which size should I choose?

Size is mainly determined by anatomy, childbearing history, and pelvic floor strength. Since a woman’s body undergoes many changes during life, both Lily Cup™ and Lily Cup™ Compact are available in two different sizes.

Size ASize B
You have not given birthYou have given birth naturally
You have given birth by CaesareanYou have a weaker pelvic floor

Each cup is designed for maximum comfort and should not be felt when worn. If you feel any discomfort, you may need to change your size.

• If you are using a size A and feel that your cup is not securely collecting your menstrual flow and/or experience continual   spotting, then change to size B.
• If you are using a size B and find it difficult to insert and/or feel any discomfort during use, then change to size A.
• If you usually have a heavy flow, we recommend you use the regular Lily Cup™, which has a higher capacity.

What are the size dimensions?

Capacity to air holes: 16 ml / 0.54 fl. oz.Capacity to air holes: 19 ml / 0.64 fl. oz.

Due to the Lily Cup’s slanted rim design, it does not need air holes.

How do I make the Lily Cup™ Compact shorter?

If your Lily Cup™ Compact is too long or the stem irritates you, you can turn the cup inside out and then insert it normally. It doesn’t change the way you use the cup or make it less effective (other than perhaps a small decrease in the capacity since the stem takes up space inside). This does not work for the Lily Cup.

How do I trim the stem of the Lily Cup™ / Lily Cup™ Compact?

You can trim the stem of the Lily Cup™ to just below the 3rd ring so that you still have something to grip for removal. You can trim the stem of the Lily Cup™ Compact to just at the 3rd ring – maximum. Remove any more and you risk puncturing the cup and making it unusable. Please see the images below for a guide.

Lily Cup™Lily Cup™ Compact

Just remember that removing the stem, either by turning the cup inside-out or cutting it, can make it a little more difficult to remove, since you don't have anything to grip.

What is the Lily Cup™ made of?

The Lily Cup™ is made of an ultra-soft, medical-grade silicone. It is hypoallergenic and 100% free of phthalates, latex, bleaches, fibers or any other substance that could cause sensitivity or allergic reactions.

I am allergic to latex, is the Lily Cup™ safe for me?

Yes, the Lily Cup™ is latex-free and is made of premium medical-grade silicone that does not cause sensitivity or allergic reactions.

Can a Lily Cup™ get lost or stuck inside me?

No. The vagina ends at the cervix, so you can’t lose the cup in your body. If you are having trouble removing the cup, just try to relax your body and use your pelvic floor muscles to push the cup down until you can grip the stem and pull it further down. Once you can reach the base, squeeze to break the seal, which will make it easier to slide out. Certain positions, like squatting over the toilet, can shorten the vagina and bring the cup closer to the entrance as well.

I am a virgin, will the Lily Cup™ affect my hymen?

For those concerned about the hymen, please consult your medical practitioner prior to use.

What is TSS?

TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) is a life-threatening condition caused by the toxin-producing strains of the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. While rare, TSS is a serious disease that may be fatal. Symptoms can include sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, and a rash like sunburn.
If you have any of these signs while using a Lily Cup™, remove it and contact your doctor immediately. If you have been diagnosed with TSS in the past it is not recommended to use Lily Cup. If you are unsure please ask your medical practitioner.

Can I use the Lily Cup™ if I have an IUD?

The Lily Cups™ are held in a lower position than a tampon and should not interfere with an internal birth control device such as an IUD. However, before using any cup with an IUD you should discuss your specific situation with your physician and confirm that the IUD is positioned correctly and that the strings are not too long. While using the cup you should also make sure that you break the seal before removing and that the strings are above the cup when you wear it so you don’t pull on them when you remove it. For more details please see this article:

Is the dye safe?

Yes, the Lily Cup™ is made of the highest quality materials for maximum safety. The dye used is 100% body-safe and has been tested and approved in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Rinse thoroughly. For a more thorough cleaning, fully submerge your Lily Cup™ in boiling water for 5 to 8 minutes. Do not boil dry.

Other methods, recommended for occasional cleaning to removing stains:
Hydrogen peroxide (1%): Use 1 part 1% hydrogen peroxide and 1 part water. Submerge your cup and let it soak cup for 24 hours. Wash well to remove all of the hydrogen peroxide residue before using it or storing it.
White vinegar: Use 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. Submerge and soak your cup for 24 hours. If, after washing the cup well, it still smells like vinegar follow up by boiling as above.

What substances should I avoid?

The Lily Cup™ Compact’s protective case can be washed with soap and water, and then dried before use.

When should I replace my Lily Cup™?

Cleaning and storing your Lily Cup™ properly will ensure that it lasts for a number of years. While the silicone is very durable, we recommend that you replace your Lily Cup™ if you notice any cuts, punctures, or the forming of an oily or sticky film. Slight discoloration is normal and may occur over time. Any discoloration that occurs will not affect the effectiveness or safety of the Lily Cup™.

Could the Lily Cup™ Compact collapse inside me?

No, the Lily Cup™ Compact’s design means it will always stay rigid when worn. It will only collapse when you use your hands to collapse it.

How should I fold my cup?

There are several different options for folding; it depends on each woman’s body and preferences. No matter your folding technique, it is extremely important to make sure that the top of your cup completely opens once you have inserted it. Gently squeeze the base of the cup (not the stem) to open it inside your body.
You can find instructions on the most useful folds here.

Can I wear it overnight?

Yes, Lily Cup™ and Lily Cup™ Compact can be worn non-stop for 12 hours without needing to change it. Now you can enjoy a good night's sleep with stain-free sheets the next morning! If you usually have heavy flow, you may consider choosing the regular Lily Cup™ , which has a higher capacity.

The only activity that should be avoided while wearing the Lily Cup™ is intercourse. Other than that, you can wear the Lily Cup™ to do just about any activity you like! With the Lily Cup™, you can confidently go swimming, dancing, running, or to yoga, all care-free.

How many hours can I wear it without having to change it?

For the ultimate convenience, you can wear the Lily Cup™ or Lily Cup™ Compact non-stop for up to 12 hours without the need for regular changes. However, how often you personally will need to change it depends on your flow. For those heavier days you may need to change it more frequently than on your lighter ones.

I'm having leaks, am I wearing it right?

If the Lily Cup™ is inserted correctly you should be completely leak-free. It is important to remember that it takes a bit of time and practice to learn how to use a menstrual cup. But, if you are experiencing leaks, the most common reason is that when it was inserted the Lily Cup™ did not fully open to form a seal with the vaginal wall.

We recommend that you remove and reinsert your cup and try one of the following tips to ensure that the cup has fully opened. Once inserted:

1. Softly squeeze the base of the cup (not the stem) and slightly rotate it.
2. Insert 1 finger and gently run it around the inserted cup to ensure that a seal has formed.

Also, we suggest different folding options for the Lily Cup™; perhaps by trying a new folding option you may eliminate this problem.

I am a teenager and just got my period. Can I use the Lily Cup™?

Yes, even young girls can reap the many benefits that the Lily Cup™ offers. Since the Lily Cup™ rests in a lower position than a tampon; it is perfectly safe for women of all ages. If you are concerned about breaking the hymen, please consult your medical practitioner prior to use.

I just had a baby, can I use a Lily Cup™?

It is recommended that women wait 6 weeks after giving birth to use internal period protection. After that, and only if you are fully healed, you can use a cup for your first period after the birth of your baby. If you are experiencing vaginal pain, discomfort, or irritation, please consult your medical practitioner prior to use.

Is the Lily Cup™ recommended for use during menopause?

Yes! Lily Cup™ is highly recommended for use during menopause as it doesn’t cause dryness, and you can take it anywhere with you. During menopause your cycle can be very unpredictable, sometimes the flow will increase or decrease without warning. The Lily Cup™ is great for managing these changes without drying out intimate areas or causing further irritation, which are both common problems during menopause and are exacerbated by using uncomfortable tampons.

How often should I empty my cup?

You can wear your Lily Cup™ or Lily Cup™ Compact for up to 12 hours, and we recommend that you empty your cup 2-3 times per 24 hour period. Generally speaking, the lighter your flow, the less frequent the changes. But on those heavy days, you may need to empty your cup more often. With time and practice you will be able to gauge how often you personally need to empty your cup.

What if I can’t wash the cup at work/public toilet/while out?

Always remember you should wash your hands before handling your cup - consider carrying antibacterial hand wipes or hand sanitizer in your bag. The Lily Cup™ itself is designed not to encourage bacterial growth, so you can skip a rinse once in a while. If you don’t have access to a sink, you can use a piece of toilet paper to wipe the cup and re-insert it. Another option is to take a bottle of water with you into the bathroom stall and rinse the cup over the toilet.

Can I wear my cup during intercourse?

No, the Lily Cup™ cannot be worn during intercourse. It is important to note that the Lily Cup™ is not a contraceptive and will not prevent against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.

What should I do if I have difficulty inserting my cup?

First of all, relax your body! This will help to ease your vaginal muscles and facilitate insertion. Find a comfortable position and try the different folding options to see which one is most comfortable for you. You can also use a little water-based lubricant for added comfort.

Insertion of the Lily Cup™ is similar to that of a tampon and since it's new, it may seem a little difficult at first. With time and a bit of practice, inserting the Lily Cup™ will become effortless. In fact, most girls master the technique after a few attempts and then they love how comfortable it is.

Can I use a lubricant?

Yes. If you wish to use a lubricant, we recommend that you use a water-based product such as Intimina's Feminine Moisturizer. Avoid using a silicone-based lubricant as this could make the Lily Cup™ silicone permanently tacky.

What should I do if I have difficulty removing my cup?

Remain calm if you cannot remove your cup, there is no urgency as the Lily Cup™ can be worn for up to 12 hours. The key to easy removal is relaxing your body.

• In a slightly squatting position, use a series of gentle, downward pushes with your vaginal muscles to move the cup lower.
• Then grip the stem and slowly pull downwards.
• Once you can reach the base of the cup, gently squeeze the base to release the seal.
• Continue to pull the stem downwards and, when you feel that the base is almost out, angle your cup slightly to avoid any spillage.

Should I remove my cup during bowel movements?

The Lily Cup™ does not need to be removed for urination or bowel movement.

Laselle™ Weighted Exercisers
Why are pelvic floor muscles important?

The pelvic floor muscles form a cradle of support for the uterus, bowel and bladder, as well as controlling the sensitive muscles in the rectal and urethral area. Muscle inactivity, aging and stretching of the muscles during childbirth weakens the pelvic floor muscles, which can lead to health issues. Doing pelvic floor exercises regularly gives you greater control over these important muscles and also leads to heightened sensitivity during intimate activities.

What are the advantages of using Laselle™ Weighted Exercisers over unassisted training?

Laselle™ Exercisers allow for easier and more efficient training. The exercisers provide you with a static device to squeeze around so as to help you locate your pelvic floor muscles and exercise more effectively. Meanwhile, the weighted inner balls add resistance to your exercise, making it more effective and the progressive weights help you to create a tailored exercise routine.

What materials are the exercisers made from, are they safe to put inside my body?

They were specially created for your intimate area in order to be safe, soft and very comfortable to wear. The exercisers are made entirely from body-safe materials, including phthalate-free silicone and ABS. With their bacteria-resistant retraction cords, non-porous silicone skins and outer rings of durable ABS plastic, the exercisers are extremely hygienic and easy-to-clean.

How do I insert the exercisers?

Inserting the exercisers is simple; assume a comfortable position and insert the exerciser fully into the vagina using a little water-based lubricant. There is no need to push the exerciser deep inside as it should rest comfortably above the pelvic floor muscles about 2cm inside. If you are inserting more than one ball, follow the same method, inserting the lead ball first and then the second ball with the retraction cord facing out. Maintain a relaxed breathing pattern and use a gentle but firm motion to introduce the balls into your vaginal opening.

How do I remove the exercisers?

With the retraction cord, taking the exerciser out is as easy as putting it in. The cord is 7cm long to facilitate easy removal. Make sure the retraction cord protrudes slightly from the vagina when you insert the exerciser. To remove, simply pull the cord, gently at first, increasing pressure as required. If the exerciser does not come out easily, try sitting or lying down, relax your body, and pull the cord a little harder.

Can I use more than one ball?

The exercisers can be used together to provide a varied and more complete workout routine. Simply link them using the retraction cord and the outer ring. Doing so according to your level of pelvic fitness allows you to tailor your training to your needs. With a combination of balls, gravity will compel your muscles to work harder meaning a more challenging and complete workout.
Experiment with different balls until you find the combination that is both challenging and comfortable enough for you. Take care not to ask too much of your body; if the weight is too much or if you experience any discomfort, remove the balls and switch to a lighter combination.

How do I clean my exerciser?

Clean your exerciser before and after each use, either with anti-bacterial soap and water or with a purpose-made product such as our Intimate Accessory Cleaner. Wipe dry with a lint-free towel or cloth. Never use cleansers containing alcohol, petrol or acetone as these substances have the potential to disturb your natural balance and they may also damage the silicone on the outer shell of the exerciser.

Can I use Laselle™ Exercisers when pregnant?

It is advised that expectant mothers refrain from introducing foreign materials into their vaginas while carrying, as there is an increased risk for miscarriage and premature rupturing of the membranes. If you have any questions, please consult your physician.

Can I use Laselle™ Exercisers just after childbirth?

New moms should wait until they are completely healed before starting to use KegelSmart, usually around 6 weeks. Be sure to speak to your doctor before starting any new exercise routine.

Can I sleep with the exerciser in place?

Exercising with Laselle™ Exercisers should never exceed 60 minutes a day. We recommend usage while you are active as this is when your muscles are stimulated to exercise.

How often should I do the exercises?

As with any exercise regime, keeping to a regular schedule is important. For best results use Laselle™ Exercisers three times a week to daily.

Is there anything I can do if the exercise gets too easy?

If the exercise gets too easy, you can increase the resistance by using an exerciser of a heavier weight or by linking more than one exerciser together to personalize your routine.

How long before I notice the results of the exercises?

Results will vary based upon your current level of pelvic floor fitness. Like any exercise routine, consistency is important. As with strengthening any muscle, you will notice steady improvement according to the consistency of your exercise regime.

Where should I keep my exerciser?

Laselle™ Exercisers come with their own washable storage pouch, giving you the perfect place for storage between uses.
