Contractions pull your cervix up into the uterus, causing it to thin as it dilates, making way for baby.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What does a cervix look like?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its Latin name, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cervix uteri, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">translates to \u2018womb\u2019s neck\u2019- and that\u2019s a spot-on, though slightly unsettling, description of what your cervix looks like.
