Communication is vital to creating a healthy sex life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tone Matters<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Something to keep in mind is that it doesn\u2019t have to be serious. While some topics may be of a more serious nature, there are ways of approaching sexual conversations in a sexy, lighthearted, and playful way. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, some moments do call for a more solemn tone, and that\u2019s totally ok too! Letting these conversations ebb and flow gives them space to take on whatever tone is needed for you to get your message across.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sex Evolves<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conversations around sex are an ever-evolving matter. You\u2019re never going to reach one particular destination, even with the same partner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you evolve and grow as a person, so might your sexual needs and desires. This is why these topics may need to be revisited again and again, or new topics may come up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is awesome! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be so fulfilling to track and see where you have bloomed and expanded, and what areas still need to be nurtured.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if you feel like you\u2019ve discussed the same topic again and again, if you feel a need to address it, give yourself the space to do so, or you\u2019ll just be holding that inside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What Do We Talk About?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If having conversations about sex with your partner is newer for you, it can be helpful to know what to discuss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Here are a few key topics to dive into&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>STI status<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are just starting to have sex with a new person, or practice non-monogamy, it\u2019s important to talk about sexually transmitted infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although most of us learned about STIs in high school health class, knowledge about how they work and how to navigate them still seems limited. People get STIs, it\u2019s a part of being a sexually active human. Much of the time, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intimina.com\/blog\/normalizing-sti-stigma-vs-reality\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stigma of them is much worse than the reality<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting tested regularly, and honestly sharing your results with your sexual partner means being a responsible, respectful human.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Off Limits<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a lot of unknowns when letting a new person explore your body. It can feel vulnerable, exhilarating, and really exciting. At the same time, if there are places on your body that you know don\u2019t feel good to be touched, or that are triggering for you &#8211; it\u2019s important to let your partner know.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This may not just mean certain places, but specific ways of being touched that don\u2019t feel right.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No matter how strong their intuition is, your partner is not a mind reader, and they most likely won\u2019t know that something doesn\u2019t feel right unless you tell them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, you may not know until you\u2019re in the moment, and even then, it can change day to day. This is totally normal, just make sure to let your partner know!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Oh, Yes!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, there might be places on your body, or ways of being touched, that you absolutely love. Vocalize that!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Human erogenous zones can be incredibly complex. Some people get worked up from the sensation of fingertips running up and down their arms. Others can\u2019t get enough of a sensual head scratch. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some people, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intimina.com\/blog\/healing-through-anal-sex\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anal play <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is where it\u2019s at. Tell your partner what your zones are, and how you like them explored &#8211; while still leaving plenty of room for exploration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fantasies and Desires<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As sexual beings with active imaginations, we may have some wild fantasies and desires.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intimina.com\/blog\/sex-as-art\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sex is a creative act,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so talk to your partner about how you want to express that creativity. Tell your partner what\u2019s been on your mind, what you think about when you\u2019re having solo sex, and ask them about their fantasies.
