The COVID-19 pandemic has changed so many aspects of our lives. Some being impacted in more significant ways than others.<\/span><\/p>\n

But life goes on, and with that – the milestones and monumental changes that are a part of being alive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For most people navigating pregnancy during this time, they may have had a much different experience than what they envisioned for their pregnancy and birth. <\/span><\/p>\n

Baby showers, birth preferences, and postpartum plans may all have changed, but one thing has stayed the same – their need for support before, during and after birth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a Doula?<\/b><\/p>\n

One of the biggest ways a pregnant person can find support is by hiring a <\/span>doula<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A doula is a non-medical provider that offers continuous support during labor and birth, as well as prenatal planning, and postpartum check-ins.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How this looks logistically will vary from doula to doula, and from birth to birth, but some of the tools a doula utilizes to support their clients are education, help with a \u201cbirth plan\u201d, hands on massage and counterpressure techniques to help ease contractions, making sure the birthing person is hydrated, making sure that any partner of family member present has eaten and gotten some sleep, and so much more.<\/span><\/p>\n
