Especially if they labored before an unplanned c-section.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Symptoms of Pelvic Floor Prolapse<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pelvic floor prolapse may sound scary and almost alien-like, but they aren\u2019t life-threatening. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just because it\u2019s not life-threatening doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s fun! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pelvic organ prolapse can cause pain and discomfort, along with a whole bunch of other symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some of the most common ones to look out for:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A dragging sensation in the vagina.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discomfort during sex.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Numbness during sex.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incontinence or other issues with urination.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A visual lump or bulge coming out of your vagina<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feeling like something is coming down into your vagina. Sometimes pelvic organ prolapse doesn\u2019t cause any symptoms at all! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That being said, if you\u2019re experiencing any of these symptoms, it\u2019s time to give your healthcare provider a call.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How is a Pelvic Organ Prolapse Diagnosed?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may need to be referred to a specialist, but first, you\u2019ll want to see your general OB\/GYN. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/uterine-prolapse\/diagnosis-treatment\/drc-20353464\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what to expect<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when at your OB\/GYN appointment:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An internal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intimina.com\/blog\/what-to-expect-at-a-pelvic-floor-exam\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pelvic floor exam<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where your provider feels for lumps inside the vagina and in the pelvic area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use of a speculum to get a clearer view inside your vaginal wall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They might ask you to bear down and tighten your pelvic muscles to assess the extent of the prolapse and the strength of your pelvic floor muscles.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A urine test to check for infections if you\u2019re having difficulty with peeing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diagnostic imaging like ultrasounds and a pelvic MRI scan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there is bladder pain, you may need a cystoscopy, this allows your provider to look into your bladder.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not experiencing any symptoms, you might not know you have a pelvic organ prolapse until a routine gynecological exam.
