WAYNE SHIELDS, President and CEO
Association of Reproductive Health Professionals
Mr. Shields is the president and CEO of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP). He has guided the development and implementation of health education initiatives, scientific programs, and policy activities at ARHP since 1991, and has served in his current position since 1998. He is on the editorial boards of Contraceptive Technology Update and Clinical Proceedings in Reproductive Health, and is a contributing editor to the European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health. Mr. Shields is a board member of the National Cervical Cancer Coalition, serves on the advisory boards of the International Consortium for Emergency Contraception and the American Society for Emergency Contraception, and is incoming chair of the Population, Reproductive, and Sexual Health section of the American Public Health Association. Mr. Shields also serves on the steering committee and is an expert advisor for the Initiative for Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (IMPT) at the Public Health Institute. His primary professional interest is in translating reproductive and sexual health clinical and behavioral science into effective education and communications that create positive change. He has an undergraduate degree in women's studies and English literature, and graduate studies in organizational management at The George Washington University.
